Don Swaim Interviews

Audio Interview with Arthur Lubow
about Richard Harding Davis

Arthur Lubow, author of The Reporter Who Would Be King: A Biography of Richard Harding Davis, begins by reminding the audience of Richard Harding Davis. According to Lubow, Davis was one of the famous men at the cusp of the 19th century and a prototype of an 1890, handsome, wealthy man. Although Richard Harding Davis had been given a senior editing position, his passion lied in field reporting. Because he had connections and power, some correspondents sneered at him. However, after showcasing his work, Richard Harding Davis won his deserved respect.
