Audio Interview with Chaim Potok |
|
![]() |
Rabbi and author of The Book of Lights, I Am The Clay and many others, Chaim Potok discusses his book, The Chosen, and the movie made from the book. Don and Chaim also discuss the anonymity and the ethnic groups of New York City, the city where Chaim was raised, educated and lived for many years. The Chosen is about an American traveling to Korea. These stories are pulled from his own experiences living in the region. The Book of Lights is a sort of sequel by demonstrating conflicts between the two cultures. In his newest novel at the time, Davita's Harp, he tells the story of a women dealing with discrmination within the Jewish community, a story that closely relates to something Potok’s own wife dealt with. For over a decade, many of the best writers of the English language found their way onto Don Swaim's daily two-minute CBS Radio show, Book Beat. His New York-based program was derived from longer interviews, sometimes 40-minutes in length. Found exclusively here, Wired for Books proudly webcasts these conversations in their entirety using RealAudio. © Ohio University |
