Gloria Steinem, writer and cofounder of Ms. magazine, discusses how her father taught her to be her own boss and how she would like to be taken seriously as a feminist writer. She talks to Don Swaim in 1983 about her start as a freelance writer, growing up in Toledo, Ohio, going to college in the 1950s, her early days as a journalist and the beginnings of Ms. magazine.
