Don Swaim Interviews

Audio Interview with Larry Collins

Larry Collins started out in advertising before he was drafted and sent to war. After the war he found himself in Paris, desperately searching for any journalistic position. Collins says that working in journalism is often a precursor to becoming a serious novelist, citing Hemingway as his prime example. Collins has co-authored a number of books with his friend Dominique Lapierre. They collaborated on several works of non-fiction including, Is Paris Burning?, O Jerusalem! and Freedom at Midnight. Their first fictional novel together was The Fifth Horseman, a story of a terrorist attack on NYC. Collins himself has gone on to write several other novels such as Fall from Grace, Maze and Black Eagles. Collins and Swaim talk about this and more in this 1985 interview.
