Audio Interview with Rider McDowell

In this 1987 interview with Don Swaim, Rider McDowell discusses how he created his Puerto Rican hero, Diaz, in his second novel The Mercy Man. This detective story is set in East Harlem and Manhattan. His first novel, Wimbledon, became a best seller that he wrote when he was living in London which is a thriller based around tennis. McDowell also remembers growing up in New Jersey and working many odd jobs such as a gardener and bouncer until finally getting his writings published.
