Audio Interviews with Sol Stein

Sol Stein started writing at the age of seven when he won an award for a poem. In this 1985 interview with Don Swaim, Sol Stein tells us how he “accidentally” became a publisher, what it is like running a business with his wife and why being a publisher as well as writer can be beneficial. Stein also discusses his book, A Touch of Treason and tells us why he chose an Armenian background for his main character.

In this 1989 interview with Don Swaim, Sol Stein discusses his book Bankruptcy: A Feast for Lawyers which is a book about bankruptcy laws and practices. He also discusses his own publishing house Stein and Day, which started in 1962 and had published many best selling authors. Stein discusess how the publishing house filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and went through many legal battles.

Author, playwright, teacher, and computer program designer, Sol Stein, talks about his latest novel in this 1991 interview. The Best Revenge: A Novel of Broadway centers around his first love, theater. He discusses the plot of the novel and some of the secrets of Broadway. He also discusses his view on computers which he believes can save education. Sol Stein is the designer of three computer softwares: WritePro, FirstAid for Writers, and FictionMaster, and is the author of The Magician and Stein on Writing.
