Author Interviews by Don Swaim

Don Swaim

Listen to the voices of many of the best writers of the English language. These uncut, behind-the-scenes interviews were the foundation of Don Swaim's long-running CBS Radio show, Book Beat.

Don runs a definitive Web site on the myth and mind of Ambrose Bierce: The Ambrose Bierce Site, and is editor of an online magazine dedicated to the craft of creative writing: The Bucks County Writers Workshop.

Don Swaim has been a journalist, writer, and broadcaster his entire career. He graduated from Ohio University with a degree in broadcast journalism, and worked as an editor, writer, producer, reporter, and anchor at WCBS-AM in New York for many years, and prior to that served at the CBS-TV affiliate in Baltimore.

For more than ten years he produced a daily broadcast that focused on books and authors, Book Beat, nationally syndicated by the CBS Radio Stations News Service. The actual two-minute or less CBS Book Beat features, derived from the much longer author interviews posted here, are on the Internet at: http://donswaim.com/bookbeatpodcast.html .

Don Swaim is the author of The H.L. Mencken Murder Case, published by St. Martin's Press. Born in Kansas and a longtime resident of Manhattan's Upper West Side, Don now lives in Pennsylvania, where he is a writer.

Listen in RealAudio to these classic behind-the-scene conversations, available only at Wired for Books.
