Don Swaim Interviews

Audio Interview with William Caunitz

In this 1991 interview with Don Swaim, William Caunitz, author of Chains of Command, Pigtown, Suspects, and One Police Plaza, explains that he does not understand how writers can write with a strict outline. He likes to write without knowing what will come next, and feels it is important for character development and story ideas. One thing he stresses is that he writes a lot and will do multiple drafts before he is happy with his writing. His main focus, outside of talking about his writing techniques, is the abuse of police power, and gives examples to emphasize his point.
